Johnny Lewis American Flat Track Racer 10-3-17

Johnny Lewis- Aboard the factory Scout FTR750, the famed Indian Wrecking Crew version 2.0 has garnered the attention throughout the 2017 American Flat Track season. But at the Lone Star Half-Mile, it was privateer racer Johnny Lewis and a new, off-the-showroom-floor Scout FTR750 that was turning heads.

With his best race of the year, Lewis showcased the prowess of the stock Scout FTR750, as he passed Indian Wrecking Crew rider Bryan Smith on the final lap of the main event to finish with a strong third-place, podium position. It was his first time riding the premier race bike, which is available for purchase to privateer racers, collectors and race fans.

Not bad for a bike I jumped on for the first time today in practice,” Lewis said during his post-race interview. “It’s been a while since I’ve been on the podium. I can’t tell you how happy I am. It feels good.”

After more than 60 years away from professional flat track racing, Indian Motorcycle Racing has racked up the stats, including 13 total wins, 36 podiums, six podium sweeps, the Manufacturer’s Championship, and Wrecking Crew rider Jared Mees secured his fourth career Grand National Championship earlier this season.
